What Should You Do If You Have a Migraine Attack?

Migraines are the worst headaches you could ever experience in your life. They’re worse than the throbbing sensations in your skull during a hangover. People could lose consciousness at the onset of a migraine attack!

It’s best to know what you can do in anticipation of a migraine attack, or when it does happen to you or your loved one.

If your family has a history of migraine attacks, it’s best to go to a local pharmacy in Texas and stock up on painkillers. Depending on the severity of the migraine, over-the-counter medicines for pain like aspirin and ibuprofen could suffice to relieve one of the pain.

However, take note that they can be prone to being overused. Use them as temporary relief only. As soon as the migraine symptoms go away, you should go and visit a doctor so you can be given appropriate treatment and medicines.

The doctor, oftentimes a neurologist, will prescribe to you any of the following medicines:

  • Triptans
These are painkillers that work differently from OTC painkillers. Instead of suppressing pain receptors, they block neural pathways for pain signals.
  • Dihydroergotamines
These medicines are effective for migraines that take more than 24 hours to subside.
  • Lasmiditan
Lasmiditan has been proven to reduce not only pain from migraines but also nausea and sensory sensitivity.

You can buy these from any pharmacy in Grand Prairie, Texas, but you will need a prescription.
